the design process
keeping you in the driver's seat

Website Design is a big process. Many steps need to be taken in a certain order before a final product can be released. From themes and graphical layouts to function development; from, code debugging to content filling, each process is built upon the last in a timeline. As well each process relies on the outcome of the last in order to achieve their goal. Our step by step method has been developed in order to keep your vision in our sightline.

Before we can continue, a few concepts need to be defined to help better understand or design process.

industry research

The first thing that certainly helps in website design is an example of the desired outcome. A point of reference. This concept is not new to anyone or anything. And it can help shorten the development timeline and allow time to be better spent on the site itself. It can also to avoid recreating the wheel.

This process involves finding working examples of what you would like on your website. Ideas, concepts, tools, Inspiration! At Livewire we encourage our clients to check out the websites related to their industry, and provide us with their opinion of these sites, both pros and cons. Do these sites provide useful techniques, tools, or concepts? What's working on these sites, and what's not working? This process can help better determine what you want to see and what you don't want to see on your website. We don't want to spend time creating something your not happy with. So if we both start looking on the same page we feel this will certainly provide your website with an advantage before anything is developed.

client section

The Client Section of our site has been developed to help improve communications with our client and us, by providing you with working links to your site while development is taking place. We want you to see this process, and we encourage comments and thoughts throughout this entire journey. Through project related discussion forums and visual examples of what's going on with your site. We feel this tool is invaluable to the design process as it provides you with a way to alter your website design before the process become too large.

This section will email you when major design changes have occurred, and also contact us when you make a comment. Also providing you with places to post text you wish to see on your site, and upload files and pictures to us, so we can prepare them for the internet for you. When it comes to post launch support this section can also help assist you in announcing requests for alterations.

our method

Having said all that, let's continue forward with our method. Content is the most difficult thing to gather for a website so we always suggest to start collecting and preparing all your content right from the word go. Content defines everything from site navigation to imagery. We assist in collecting content for your site, however since you know your business best, we generally encourage you to gather the bulk of it.

While the content is being developed, Livewire will begin your website theme. Themes are usually developed by mirroring and expanding your corporate image. This is achieved by developing graphics and site imagery that will not only be a reflection of your corporate image, but also a visual reminder to your client of the content on the page. Just like any other stage of your website design, the theme development will be viewable through our client section.

When you are satisfied with your theme we will begin developing your website layout. By logically organizing your content a visual hierarchy of your website can be composed. Along with this your template page will be developed. This is will be your first webpage.

From there we begin creating the functions and tools that work behind the scenes. Each function will be error checked and fully functionally before moving onto the next. This process involves the creation of all the pages in your site.

When this step is complete your navigation system will be implemented, providing working links throughout each page on your website.

We're almost there.

Next we have a test run. This is where your website will be beta tested for the internet, by both us, and you. When all the wrinkles have been ironed out, last minute alterations and improvements are then made before your website is launched.

conclusion

By breaking your project down into manageable tasks, our design method keeps you in the driver's seat without overwhelming you with the burden of technical issues. This process also helps to keep short term goals in minds while still achieving the ultimate outcome: A professional, user friendly website for you and your clients.
